Day 1

Goals are good. Everyone should have one, this is mine: The Disney Half-Marathon. The first of January, Disney World has several races - a marathon, half-marathon and fun runs. Recognizing the need to get in shape anyway, I thought it would be a challenge to prepare for a half-marathon and why not at the happiest place on earth? I've got till January 2011, because there is NO WAY to make it for 2010!

So here's the deal, I plan to bore you with my progress. I know that if I don't tell anyone about this, I'm likely to stop. Not every day mind you, but on a regular basis. I covet your words of encouragement and support.

Day 1 has gone good. Gotta start somewhere and today was a good day. I plan to hit the equipment through the winter and start running in the early spring. Most plans for half-marathoners assume you can run 30 minutes without stopping to start with, I've got to get to that point.

I'm also planning to watch the diet a little better. Cut out the sweets and fatty, high-calorie food. That shouldn't be too hard, I like lettuce.

That's all I've got for today. My mindset is good.....for now.
